Temporary Detour Scheduled for West Bay Parkway
Chipley– Drivers will encounter a temporary detour on West Bay Parkway entering and exiting the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport beginning at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14. North and southbound traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction for approximately 1/2 mile. The temporary detour will remain in place for at least six months to allow embankment construction close to the roadway. Traffic on State Road 388 will not be affected. Variable message boards and traffic control devices will be on site to assist in directing motorists through the work area.
All planned construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Motorists are reminded to pay attention to the speed limit when traveling through the construction area, to watch for construction equipment entering and leaving the roadway, and to use caution when driving through the work zone. Speeding fines are doubled when workers are present.
